“I encourage everyone interested in drawing trustee areas for the College and the County Board of Education for the next decade to attend the workshop in person or remotely,” commented Napa County Registrar of Voters John Tuteur who is staffing the redistricting process on behalf of both districts. Workshop participants will learn about redistricting, see a demonstration of the trustee area drawing tool for maps and communities of interest and be able to ask questions or make comments.
Both districts welcome public input in the redistricting process. The public can suggest communities of interest and submit maps at www.districtr.org/event/napa_boe or www.districtr.org/event/napa_college Both sites will be available for the public to draw communities of interest and trustee area maps after the workshop.
The public can also submit questions, comments and community of interest forms at these two websites Redistricting 2021 (napavalley.edu) and Board of Education – Napa County Office of Education (napacoe.org)
Redistricting is the regular process of adjusting the lines of voting districts in accordance with population shifts. Each county with district-based elections is required to update (“redistrict”) the district boundaries every ten years, following the receipt of the 2020 population data from the federal census. You can find a map of the current Napa College Trustee Areas and County Board of Education Trustee Areas at Redistricting 2021 (napavalley.edu)
